November 2, 2001 - Islamic clerics and lecturers at Egypt's Al-Azhar University are calling for jihad against America.
Dr. Abd Al-Azim Al-Mut'ani, lecturer: "This war is a criminal attack, genuinely similar to the first Crusader wars, which the West waged in the Middle Ages under the rallying cry of defending the Christian pilgrims, when their actual target was Islam and the Muslims. Now, the U.S. has declared a war on Afghanistan, under the rallying cry of fighting terrorism, when the actual goal is to harm Islam and to wipe it off the face of the earth. ...

Turner is said to have ordered the tape locked away until it was determined that the world was about to end. He also answered questions about reports that Iraq and Saddam Hussein were involved. He acknowledged that Hussein "means us no good." But he couldn't say that there is a clear link between Iraq and the attacks.

The words of President Abraham Lincoln written on March 30, 1863:
"It is the duty of nations, as well as of men to own their dependence on the overruling power of God; to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon...And insomuch as we know that by His divine law nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people?...Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us…It behooves us, then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness."

President's Speech To The Nation
Sept 21, 2001 - President Georg W. Bush spoke to a joint session of Congress, and to the nation about America's determination to combat terrorism. It was a powerful speech, interrupted by applause more than thirty times. Here are some of the highlights of the speech:
Whether we bring our enemies to justice, or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done.

Americans have many questions tonight. Americans are asking: Who attacked our country? The evidence we have gathered all points to a collection of loosely affiliated terrorist organizations known as al Qaeda. They are the same murderers indicted for bombing American embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, and responsible for bombing the USS Cole. Al Qaeda is to terror what the mafia is to crime. But its goal is not making money; its goal is remaking the world -- and imposing its radical beliefs on people everywhere

And tonight, the United States of America makes the following demands on the Taliban: Deliver to United States authorities all the leaders of al Qaeda who hide in your land. (Applause.) Release all foreign nationals, including American citizens, you have unjustly imprisoned. Protect foreign journalists, diplomats and aid workers in your country. Close immediately and permanently every terrorist training camp in Afghanistan, and hand over every terrorist, and every person in their support structure, to appropriate authorities. (Applause.) Give the United States full access to terrorist training camps, so we can make sure they are no longer operating. These demands are not open to negotiation or discussion. (Applause.) The Taliban must act, and act immediately. They will hand over the terrorists, or they will share in their fate.

-- they follow in the path of fascism, and Nazism, and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way, to where it ends: in history's unmarked grave of discarded lies.

Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.

And, finally, please continue praying for the victims of terror and their families, for those in uniform, and for our great country. Prayer has comforted us in sorrow, and will help strengthen us for the journey ahead.

Islam's many faces
Sept. 19, 2001 - Hal Lindsey explains that America's war is not against Islam, or Muslims, in general. It is against terrorists. But those terrorists do represent a certain radical brand of Islam.
Radical Islam teaches that democracy is the Great Satan, since democratic societies are free. Free societies cannot and do not require submission to Islam. Radical Islamists are as horrified that there are Christians and Jews living free in America as they are that there are atheists in America. The fruits of radical Islam are evident in the fact that there are nearly 100 Christians right now awaiting execution in Afghanistan for the crime of "promoting Christianity." Such is radical Islam. That is our enemy.

Sept. 14, 2001 - From President Bush's official proclamation:
Scripture says: "Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted." I call on every American family and the family of America to observe a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance, honoring the memory of the thousands of victims of these brutal attacks and comforting those who lost loved ones. I ask that the people of the United States and places of worship mark this National Day of Prayer and Remembrance with noontime memorial services, the ringing of bells at that hour, and evening candlelight remembrance vigils. Twin Tower Catastrophe
World Net Daily
U.S. at war with terror

NEW YORK, Sept. 11 — Two aircraft slammed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center on Tuesday, causing one to collapse, while another aircraft hit part of the Pentagon. The Pentagon, the West Wing of the White House and the Capitol building were being evacuated. In addition, the FAA grounded all civilian aircraft nationwide. President Bush called the tragedies “an apparent terrorist attack on our country.” September 11 — A plane collides with World Trade Center Tower 1 on Tuesday, some eighteen minutes after a first plane struck the other tower. NBC’S JIM MIKLASEWSKI, reporting from the Pentagon, said eyewitnesses saw a third aircraft crash into part of the Pentagon. In New York, the aircraft struck minutes apart, starting fires and sending smoke billowing out of the skyscrapers. The first crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. ET. reporter Martin Wolk, who was inside one of the towers, said the lights flickered and then a loud bang was heard. People panicked and started to flee the building. When they reached the lobby, smoke started to fill the building and people could see debris falling and many cars outside were damaged. “It was sheer pandemonium, people were screaming and crying, afraid to go outside because of the falling debris,” Wolk said. “We looked up and it looked like the top 20 floors were in flames.” Another bystander described a barrage of debris raining down on the sidewalk below.

Shortly after 9 a.m., a second aircraft was seen crashing into the other tower. Broadcast cameras already watching the scene filmed the second plane as it slammed into the tower and exploded in a huge fireball. A half hour later, President Bush made a brief statement to reporters, calling the disaster a “national tragedy” and attributing it to terrorists. He did not cite any specific terrorist groups. In the wake of the crashes, New York airports and the Lincoln Tunnel were closed as precautionary measures. The stock exchanges in New York also did not open. Large holes were visible in sides of the 110-story buildings. The tops of the twin towers were obscured by the smoke. Thousands of pieces of what appeared to be office paper came drifting over Brooklyn, about three miles from the tower, one witness said. In an earlier terrorist attack, the center was bombed on Feb. 26, 1993, killing six people and injured more than 1,000 others. Terrorist Ramzi Yousef and three others were convicted of orchestrating the attack. Three other indicted co-conspirators remain at large. The FBI said it was investigating reports of a hijacking. A United Airlines employee said he had heard reports that an American Airlines jet had been hijacked and was one of the two aircraft that flew into the center. Sources told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell that the jet was flying from Boston to Los Angeles when it apparently was hijacked. Traffic entering New York City from New Jersey was at a standstill approaching the Holland Tunnel as motorists stood outside their cars watching the fire. In Chicago, the Sears Trade tower was being evacuated as well.

U.S. planes land in Pakistan for possible Bin Laden strike
Aug. 11, 1999 - Two airplaines with military commandos from the United States reportedly landed in Pakistan last Monday in what appeared to be an attempt to attack Osama Bin Laden in neighboring Afghanistan.
Al-Jazeerah television, monitored by the BBC in Jordan, said the two planes landed at two airports around Islamabad. It said dozens of U.S. military commandos took up combat positions near the planes and barred anyone from approaching the area.
Al-Jazeerah reported that the operation was in apparent preparation for a military strike against Bin Laden. Bin Laden has been accused by the United States of having responsibility for the bombing of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania a year ago that killed at least 226 people, including 12 Americans.
