Terrorism has been a cause of some of the "wars" predicted by Jesus as signs of the times. It has been a factor in the history of the Middle East for hundreds of years, and is now a world-wide problem, especially since the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington D.C. in 2001. Terrorism produces a general sense of dread even when there is no actual attack taking place. This could be one of the most significant fulfillments of Jesus' prediction of "rumors of war" (Matthew 24:6).

Obama administration officials threatened whistle-blowers on Benghazi, lawyer says

Apr. 30, 2013 -
At least four career officials at the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency have retained lawyers or are in the process of doing so, as they prepare to provide sensitive information about the Benghazi attacks to Congress, Fox News has learned.
Victoria Toensing, a Republican counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, is now representing one of the employees. She said that her client and some of the others have been threatened by unnamed Obama administration officials. She claims that they have not been threatened with physical harm, but that their careers will be over if they cooperate with congressional investigators.

Solution to terror? 'Shut down mosques'

Apr. 30, 2013 - Pamela Geller, Executive Director of The American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), said that their organization has presented an 18-point plan to protect the nation from Islamic terror in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. She explained that three mosques are known to promote surbersive activities, and asks that...
"...government and law enforcement officials launch immediate investigations into the Islamic Society of Boston, the Dar al-Hijrah Mosque of Fairfax County, Va., and the Noor Center of Columbus, Ohio.”
She said that shutting down the mosques wouldn’t be a violation of their Constitutional, rights because Islam is not merely a religion, but a “political system.”

Russian Wiretap Caught Jihad Call between Bomb Suspect, Mom

Apr. 28, 2013 - In 2011 Russian authorities recorded a telephone conversation between Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his mother. The content of the call indicated that both of them were religious extremists. They also vaguely discussed jihad. This was the reason that Russia allerted the U.S. about Tamerlan, but they didn't give enough information to cause the FBI to do a more thorough investigation.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev vowed to die for Islam; judge may have prematurely stopped brother's interrogation, sources say

Apr. 25, 2013 - According to FBI sources,
The mother of Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev knew as early as 2011 that her son had been radicalized and sent text messages to family in Russia suggesting he was willing to die for Islam.
Meanwhile, the other bomber, the younger brother Dzhokhar, is recovering somewhat from his serious injuries in the hospital. He has been charged with the use of a weapon of mass destruction, and was being questioned by the FBI before giving him his Miranda rights under a "public safety exception." This was supposed to give the investigators 48 hours to gain valuable details from the terrorist. This information might not be admissible as a confession in court since it was obtained before reading him his constitutional rights.

The questioning was put to a dramatic stop just 16 hours after it began when federal District Court Judge Marianne Bowler arrived at the hospital and read Dzhokhar his Miranda rights. The investigators were caught off guard and complained that they were not given the time allotted by the Justice Department to finish their questioning. Valuable intelligence may have been sacrificed by the judge's actions.

US authorities to interview Boston bombing suspects' parents in Russia

Apr. 24, 2013 -
U.S. authorities were on their way to a mountainous region in southern Russia to interview the parents of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, as more details emerged about the brothers' recent activities in the U.S.
The Americans team traveled from Moscow to the predominantly Muslim province of Dagestan,, a hotbed of Wahhabism, the radical strain of Islam that was imported from Saudi Arabia and motivated Osama bin Laden.

In a separate development, investigators have discovered that Tamerlan Tsarnaev purchased two "Lock and Load" reloadable mortar kits from Phantom Fireworks in New Hampshire in February.

Theory: The Tsarnaev brothers were double agents who decoyed US into terror trap

Apr. 21, 2013 - DEBKAfile, an intelligence source that has had an outstanding record of accuracy for many years, claims that the Tsarnaev brothers were evidently recruited by our own US intelligence forces in southern Russia for the purpose of penetrating terrorist organizations. According to their theory the brothers were radicalized by the terrorists they were investigating and turned against their American sponsors. This could explain how the brothers were supported. It could also explain why a 2011 questioning of the elder brother by the FBI, at the request of the Russian government - which suspected some ties to al Qaeda, found nothing incriminating against him.

In addition, this scenario could shed light on the confusing information about a Saudi student who was questioned about his possible involvement in the attacks when he was in a Boston hospital with badly burned hands. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saudi al-Faisal was sent to Washington Wednesday, April 17, right after the bombings for private talks with President Obama and national security adviser Tom Donilon on how to keep the attack from embarrasing the Saudis. The student is scheduled to return to Saudi Arabia this week.

Boston Marathon suspects Islamic terrorists, not Chechen separatists

Apr. 20, 2013 - Terrorism expert Steve Emerson told Fox news that both brothers who perpetrated the Marathon Bombing incident had YouTube channels that show they clearly wanted "to express a message that they totally sympathize with the jihadist cause." He added that they were jihadists, not just Chechen separatists. He said that some of the videos feature Bin Laden calling for death to Americans, Jews, Christians, and encouraging the establishment of a world-wide caliphate. He added,
"They are directed primarily against all non-Muslims and are very similar to the Al Qaeda videos we've seen in years past."

Obama administration to provide emails on CIA’s Libya talking points to Senate panel

Feb. 22, 2013 - The Senate Intelligence Committee will be given access to emails pertaining to the Benghazi terrorist attack last September. They are trying to determine why terms like Al Qaeda were stripped out of them before Susan Rice, our UN Ambassador, was given the theory that the attack was a “spontaneous” reaction to protests elsewhere in the region.
The latest effort appears to be aimed at trying to appease Republicans and ease the pressure on White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan’s nomination for CIA director.

After death fatwas and Tunisia slaying, security increased for Egyptian opposition figures

Fev. 8, 2013 - Since the Arab Spring two years ago Tunisia and Egypt have installed Islamist governments led by Muslim Brotherhood followers. Both countries have strong opposition parties opposed to the imposition of strict sharia law. Yesterday Chokri Belaid, leader of of Tunisia's opposition was assassinated, leading to demonstrations there by thousands of his followers.

In Egypt, where there have already been weeks of demonstrations and the loss of life by many who are opposed to President Mohammed Morsi and his government, there is new danger for opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the National Salvation Front, and other leaders of the opposition.

Several well-known hardline clerics the past week declared that punishments under Islamic law for those who cause chaos or try to overthrow the ruler apply to the protesters and opposition leaders — including death, crucifixion or amputations of limbs.

Egypt's prime minister condemned the edicts (fatwas). The nation's top prosecutor launched an investigation against one of the clerics. The government reportedly said that the homes of El Baradei and several other leaders will be put under observation for their protection.

Terrorist group fills power vacuum among Syria rebels

Dec. 10, 2013 - Nada Bakos, a former Central Intelligence Agency analyst, explains that the group Jabhat al-Nusra was recently designated by the U.S. State Department as a foreign terrorist organization with ties to al-Qaeda. It has about 5,000 fighters, and is considered the most effective force in the Syrian insurgency against Bashar al-Assad's government. It is popular with the people because of its charitable efforts to assist the people who feel abandoned by the government.

Bakos explains that if the organization continues to grow it will become very dangerous.

With time and opportunity, al-Nusra could not only add to regional instability in the Middle East, but also rekindle global jihad.
