Conn. Shooter Feared Being 'Committed' By Mother
Dec. 19, 2012 -
- A senior law-enforcement official involved in the investigation confirmed to Fox on Tuesday that Lanza's anger at his mother
over plans for “his future mental health treatment” was being examined as a possible motive for the shooting.
Another aspect of the story is the fact that a plumber who did work for the family said that Lanza spent hours playing violent video games
including "Call of Duty."

On the Death—and Life—of Innocent Children
Dec. 18, 2012 - Mark Gali, senior managing editor of Christianity Today, relates the heartache of the massacred children to the
Christmas story and the ultimate purpose of Christ's coming into a sinful world.
- Three days after the world had done its dirtiest work on the most innocent of all, he rolled back the stone and emerged from the grave ...
as if to say that the death of the innocent is not the last word. Not even close.

Obama offers 'love and prayers' to Newtown, says these tragedies must end
Dec. 17, 2012 - President Obama read comforting words from the Bible during a comforting speech at the interfaith prayer vigil
in Newtown Connecticut.
- The president vowed during his roughly 18-minute speech that in the coming weeks he will use whatever powers possible to
“prevent another tragedy like this” -- including calling upon law enforcement and mental-health experts to help.
The President told the gathering that Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them — for to such belongs the
kingdom of heaven.” He then named the children: "Charlotte. Daniel. Olivia. Josephine. Ana. Dylan. Madeleine. Catherine. Chase.
Jesse. James. Grace. Emilie. Jack. Noah. Caroline. Jessica. Benjamin. Avielle. Allison." He said that God had called them all
home but those of us who remain must "find the strength to carry on, and make our country worthy of their memory."

What Good Can Come From This Tragedy?
|
The horror of the Sandy Hook school massacre is the worst possible news for our generation. It is beyond comprehension.
Among the many questions that are prompted by this tragedy is this one: "What is the prophetic significance of this event and others like it?"
2 Timothy 3:1-4 says.
-
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive,
disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,
treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God...
While this prophecy applies to ungodly behavior of people of all ages, the phrase "disobedient to their parents" shows that it is especially
true of many teens and young adults. Of course, they are not intrinsically worse than previous generations, but they are the ones who have
inherited an extremely troubled world, and understandably do not have much faith in a peaceful and prosperous future. Their temptations to
addictive substances and immoral activities are intense. We have allowed God and prayer to be taken out of their education, and have handed
them a world-view that denies absolute truth. Most of them do not know the Bible or have a personal relationship with Christ. They are the
victims of the apostasy of our end-times generation.
Though he was inspired to write these prophetic words, the Apostle Paul could not have imagined the effect that the violent media of this age,
including some of the music, many of the movies, and most of the video games would have in searing the conscience of its young victims.
On the other hand, if the Lord sends us the revival that we so desperately need and desire, young people will lead the way, or at least, be
a vital part of such a wonderful event. There are already many promising movements that could lead to a full-grown "Great Awakening," and
hundreds of thousands of young people who are faithful disciples of The Lord Jesus Christ."
Let us pray earnestly for the families of these precious children from the Sandy Hook Elementary school, and for the families of the adults
who died protecting them. And let us pray that the godly young people of our generation will lead the way in sharing the Gospel with their peers.

It's All About 'Me' After All
April 3, 2012 - Some educators were surprised by the results of surveys that suggest that "Millennials," the curent crop of young
adults and collegians are "more selfish, less interested in the well-being of others and less concerned about the environment than previously
thought."
Jean Twenge, a psychology professor at San Diego State University was shocked at the findings.
- Twenge and her team based their study on two long-term surveys, the American Freshman project and the University of Michigan's
Monitoring the Future project, given to youth for the last 40 years.
The economic downturn has evidently caused most young collegians to be most interested in gaining wealth, and less interested in politics,
or even developing a meaningful philosophy of life.
