War In America

PROPHETIC SIGNIFICANCE: The War Against Terrorism that began with the 9/11 attacks in 2001 has become a world-wide battle, involving many nations. However, the primary focus of the U.S. retaliation was the Taliban in Afghanistan and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network. After an original occupation by U.S. forces there, and the establishment of a democratic Afghan government, the Iraq war and other anti-terrorist activities drew down U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Since then the Taliban has regained some areas of the country, prompting a new "surge" by US forces to restore order in the country.

There are no clear references to a country like America in the line-up of End Times nations, prompting many teachers to suggest that our country will have lost much of the strength and prestige that it once enjoyed.

Mar. 16, 2012 - Afghan President Hamid Karzai complained that he is at the "the end of the rope" because the U.S. is not cooperating with Afghanistan on their probe of a killing spree allegedly carried out by an American soldier. 16 Afghan civilians were killed Sunday in southern Afghanistan, and some of their relatives think there must have been more than one shooter involved.
Officials within the Afghan government told CBS News that the Afghan army chief of staff, Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi, who accompanied Karzai to meet with the families, said he was denied access to the accused soldier because American officials said he's in special forces.

Gingrich, Palin Blast Obama Quran Burning Apology

Feb/ 24. 2012 - Qurans that had been used to pass messages between war criminals in Afghanistan were inadvertently burned on a military base there. An Afghan soldier shot and killed two U.S. soldiers and wounded others in retaliation for the burning. Now there is wide-spread rioting against the U.S. on the streets of Afghanistan. President Obama issued an apology for the action Thursday morning.

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich says Afghan President Hamid Karzi should be the one apologizing to the U.S., and that the Afghans "do not deserve the apology of the United States."

He was joined by Sarah Palin, who blasted the decision on her Facebook page: "Obama apologizes for the inadvertent Quran burning this week; now the U.S. trained and protected Afghan Army can apologize for killing two of our soldiers yesterday."
