The beloved children's stories known as The Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis will have new impetus with the Disney/ Walden release of "Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" on Dec. 9, 2005. The "story within the story," is about the power, love and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dec. 9, 2005 - Read this thorough review of the movie. It concludes that the film is a success, and is generally true to Lewis' original story. However, some key aspects, and their obvious Christian meanings, are played down, and Aslan himself does not have the power and authority readers of the story get. The "Emperor-Beyond the Sea" is not mentioned.

Disney's 'Narnia': Christ Need Not Apply

Dec. 9, 2005 - While evangelical Christians are promoting Narnia as a story with Christian meanings, many of the film's actors and directors are playing down the religious meaning.

Said producer Johnson: "We're not selling the movie to any particular group. With a movie this size, we're trying to sell it to everybody."

Put another way, Disney would like to sell "Narnia" minus Christ – but still have Christians pay the bill.
