China tests hypersonic aircraft that can carry nukes, evade missile defense systems, officials say
Aug. 8, 2018 - According to the China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics, China successfully tested its first hypersonic missile
that can carry nuclear weapons.
The flight vehicle was launched at a target range in Northwest China with a multi-stage rocket before being released in the air, making
"large-angle turning maneuvers," and achieving a top speed of Mach 6, or 4,563 mph.

North Korea Says it Will Suspend Nuclear and Missile Testing

North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un has announced Pyongyang will carry out no more nuclear or intercontinental ballistic missile
tests and will shut down its atomic test site, the North's state media reported Saturday.
In response, President Trump tweeted:, "This is very good news for North Korea and the world - big progress! Look forward to our summit.

Trump Replacing His National Security Adviser With Hawkish Ex-Diplomat
Mar. 23, 2018 - U.S. President Donald Trump has chosen John Bolton to be national security adviser. Bolton is a former U.S.
ambassador to the United Nations. As an analyst on the conservative Fox News Channel he has advocated a first strike on North Korea and pulling out of the nuclear deal with Iran.
Bolton, who also was Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security from 2001-2005, is regarded as a hardliner and
interventionist on matters of foreign policy and defense.

Feb. 3, 2018 - During the previous administration the U.S. minimized the role of nuclear weapons in defense planning.
It was hoped that other nations would do the same, but Russia, China and North Korea all advanced their nuclear weapons capabilities.
A new policy announced by the Pentagon Friday calls for the introduction soon of "low-yield nukes" on submarine-launched ballistic missiles,
and long-range plans for nuclear SLCMs (submarine-launched cruise missiles).
President Trump also vowed during his State of the Union address Tuesday to build a nuclear arsenal "so strong and powerful
that it will deter any acts of aggression."

The US appears to be quietly preparing for nuclear war with North Korea
Jan. 20, 2018 - Tensions in Korea are lowered approaching the Winter Olympics, but observers say that both the U.S. and North Korea have
made some alarming steps that could lead to nuclear war.
For only the second time ever. the US has positioned both its nuclear-capable bombers in its territory of Guam.
In addition to the usual forward-deployed USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier in Japan, the USS Carl Vinson has also headed to the Pacific, while
the smaller carriers USS Wasp and USS Bonhomme Richard also patrol the waters.

Panic ensues after false alarm warns of incoming ballistic missile threat to Hawaii

People in Hawaii were sent into a panic Saturday morning when they got an emergency alert on their phones that said,
"Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill."
After a period of about one half hour Officials said that the alert was a false alarm.
