End & New Beginning

The End/ New Beginning

The End of the World is NOT Near! Balanced Biblical teaching does indicate that there is a new age coming, during which Jesus Christ will reign. We do not set dates for future events! Fear and dread are not appropriate for those who know Christ. Nevertheless, there are many doomsday scenarios in the news, and some of them do have prophetic value.

The balance here is to remember that the Bible predicts bad times ahead, but not the total destruction of life. In fact, after a time of judgment, the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ will return as King of Kings to establish a thousand-year reign of righteousness and blessing, followed by a New Heaven and New Earth--free from evil and death.

The New View of Heaven Is Too Small

Feb. 16, 2018 - The author proposes that the recent emphasis of some evangelicals on “kingdom work” misses the real hope of the afterlife. He cites N. T. Wright’s book: Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church. Wright objecs to a “rapture-based” view of heaven where the earth is left behind, and emmphasizes the importance of building God's kingdom here and now.

The Apostle Paul expressed the value of Christian labor that brings glory to God, but does not deny the blessed hope of the future.

"To live is Christ and to die is gain.”
“I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” (Phil. 1:21, 23).
