PROPHETIC SIGNIFICANCE:
According to Matthew 24:6, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not
alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come."
Wars have always been an unfortunate part of human history, but in the End-Times, Jesus said they would get worse. In
his Olivet Discourse he identified four phases of the future: "The Beginning of Birth
Pains," "The Tribulation," "The Great Tribulation," and "After the Tribulation."
We are apparently living in the first phase, "The Beginning of Birth Pains." Jesus said there would be certain signs
accompanying this period of time. One of them is "wars and rumors of war." During the past century we have had two
world wars, the use of nuclear weapons, the cold war, terrorism, and cyberwarfare.

Aug. 5, 2016 - In 2009 ineffective six-party denuclearization talks with North Korea were suspended. Since then the Korean peninsula has been
a constant problem for the international community.
Pyongyang routinely threatens to turn South Korean and U.S. cities into “seas of fire,” and, in recent years, has sunk a South
Korean naval ship, shelled South Korean islands and routinely fired test missiles.
A system designed to protect the United States from a North Korean nuclear attack won't work, according a report released Thursday.
The missile defense system is "simply unable to protect the U.S. public," the report from the Union of Concerned Scientists said.
After a peaceful march, the downtown [Dallas] suddenly exploded into violence at around 9 p.m. local time when gunshots echoed across through the streets,
sending protesters and police officers alike scattering for cover.

Apr. 25, 2016 - Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said that China is causing the world to worry about its military expansion.
China has rattled nerves with its military and construction activities on the islands in the South China Sea, including building runways,
though Beijing says most of what it is building is for civilian purposes, like lighthouses.
China and Japan are the world's second- and third-largest economies.
In 2015, the U.S. spent $596 billion ... on defense, while China spent $374 billion and Russia spent a further $187 billion... Throw in Iran, another $34 billion,
and the sum does equal American spending.
Mar. 16, 2016 - According to Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, the U.S. military has suffered from budget and troop cuts,
and would not be ready to fight a "great power war" against one or two of four countries - China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.

The United States and South Korea started huge military exercises Monday ... that will include rehearsing surgical strikes on North Korea’s main nuclear
and missile facilities and sending in special forces to carry out “decapitation raids" on the North Korean leadership.
Meanwhile North Korea's National Defense Commission threatens to conduct preemptive strikes. At the push of a button they claim they can launch nuclear
weapons to reduce South Korean and U.S. military bases to "flames and ashes in a moment."
The United States is sending nuclear-capable B-52 aircraft to drop bombs on the Islamic State terror group, defense officials confirmed to Fox News Friday.
The B-52 Stratofortress will start its first bombing campaign against ISIS in April,
The U.S. Navy reportedly has dispatched several ships to the South China Sea amid rising tensions between the U.S., China
and other Southeast Asian nations who have claimed territory in the disputed region.
Mar. 3, 2016 - North Korean leader Kim Jong told his military leaders to be ready to use nuclear weapons at "any moment."
The shift in military posture would allow North Korea to carry out pre-emptive attacks, and deprive "the enemies to sleep in peace till the
moment they meet their final end in their land."
China is now the world’s third largest arms exporter behind the U.S. and Russia, and the country accounted for nearly six percent of arms exports between 2011 and 2015.

Feb. 7, 2016 - North Korea has launched another long-range rocket, placing a small satellite into orbit. Analysts say the launch
was an illegal test of a missile that could be used to carry a nuclear weapon to the United States.
The launch prompted South Korea and the United States to announce that they would explore the feasibility of deploying an advanced missile
defense system in South Korea, which China and Russia both oppose, "at the earliest possible date."
An emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council will be held today about the launch, at the request of the United States, Japan and South Korea.
Feb. 3, 2016 - North Korea plans to launch an "earth observation satellite" some time this month. Japan considers it a missile test.
Japan put its military on alert on Wednesday to shoot down any North Korean rocket that threatens it, while South Korea warned the North it
would pay a "severe price" if it goes ahead with a satellite launch.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists chose to keep its so-called Doomsday Clock at three minutes to midnight this year,
but said the lack of a tick forward shouldn’t be taken as a good sign.

The U.N. has levied sanctions and passed multiple resolutions for more than a decade against North Korea’s aggressive pursuit of a

Jan. 6, 2015 - North Korea claims that it sucessfully tested a Hydrogen Bomb.
The United Nations Security Council is set to hold an emergency meeting in New York on Wednesday to discuss the international response
to the test, which North Korea called an “H-bomb of justice.”
This is the fourth nuclear test conducted by North Korea. The U.N. Security Council has issued resolutions against all of their former tests.
